THE dress // Purse // Everlane Heels
Is it just me, or have these weeks been going by extra slow these days? I don’t know if it’s because it’s getting dark out earlier, and there’s suddenly a bit of a chill in the air, but every week has been in slow motion. But for some reason the weekends seem to be going a mile a minute – funny how time works 😉
It’s been getting a little chillier in Chicago, but I’ve been holding onto the last few warm days of the season. Before summer was officially over, I felt the need to buy a few last minute dresses (long sleeved, in my defense!) that would be the perfect pieces to transition from summer to fall. I had a co-worker at one of my agencies who had been rocking this Zara polka dot dress all summer long, so I was thrilled when I stumbled across it at my local Zara – not really realizing that it was actually THE dress of the season.
Now, you might be thinking I’m being a little dramatic, but Vice literally wrote an article about it. People literally are taking pictures of their co-workers wearing this dress, finding others at festivals wearing it, or having a hard time attending a wedding without multiple people wearing the same dress. And honestly, I felt like I should probably ditch it once I saw that it was an internet sensation, how many people would I run into at the office wearing it? Or at the next event where I attempt to get dressed up?But honestly, there’s a reason the internet wrote about this dress being THE dress – it’s kinda, sorta magical. It’s roomy, flattering with flats or heels, and has the perfect drop waist so I never feel like it’s a little too tight (even after a burrito…). The long sleeves make it transitional for fall, and it’s also the perfect length so it’s not too short (I’m old now, not about that!). I’ve been wearing it to work, big meetings, and even a conference I spoke at a few weeks back – not to mention date nights in San Francisco and Chicago when Tom’s been coming to visit too. Even if the internet loves it and everyone owns it, I’m still going to love it too if it feels that magical to wear. I’ll happily twin with anyone else who loves this dress as much as I do too!    I know it’s only Wednesday, but I’m already feeling like the weekend needs to get here STAT. I honestly don’t have very many plans this weekend – I’m hoping to get my life together, catch up on blogging, and visit my grandpa who lives out in the suburbs. Hoping for some nice weather and a lot of cozy weekend mornings sleeping in and getting some R&R. Even though we’re a few days off from the weekend, I hope you have some lovely things to look forward to too!
