Striped Dress // Circle Wicker Purse {love this one too!} // Silver sandals (sold out, but love these silver strappy ones and these slides for even better deal!)
And just like that, it’s already Monday again, but hey at least it’s a brand new week! The past few weeks have been pretty busy at work, so I’ve been trying to soak up as much fun as I can during the weekends. This past weekend’s agenda was pretty jam-packed – we started out with dinner at Cellar Door Provisions in Logan Square. It was SO good if you haven’t been – they have a prefix menu during the evenings so you get to try a few delicious dishes that you wouldn’t have maybe tried otherwise – including a cold soup with masa day lily, and a smoked eggplant as a main that was so tasty. Tom commented that there are transactional restaurants and transformational restaurants, and Cellar Door was definitely on the transformational side – it was so innovative and tasty. We then went and watched “Sorry to Bother You” at Logan Theatre and I embarassingly fell back asleep and woke up every few minutes (a 9:40 movie on a Friday night will do that to you…) – but from the limited parts of it I saw and Tom’s post move commentary, it was a pretty good movie 😉
Saturday we made breakfast and then hit up Zen Yoga Garage for a yoga class – followed by the best matcha I’ve had in Chicago at Matcha House. In the afternoon we went to Windy City Smokeout and had a blast with a few of our friends – any afternoon filled with food, music, drinks and Chicago in the summer is good in my book. It was so much fun, and I actually wore this Anthropoligie striped dress I picked up a few weeks ago. I’d been looking for a dress I could wear to work and around Chicago on the weekends, and it’s a perfect mix of easy and classic. Plus, I love anything with stripes, so it definitely checked all the boxes I was looking for in a summer dress!
On Sunday, I headed to the Farmers Market in the morning to pick up some fresh veggies for the week. and caught up with Tom to watch the tail end of the World Cup with some friends. I’ve never watched so much soccer than the past few weeks, and while I’m happy for one less sport we HAVE to watch, I’m going to miss having a sport I actually like watching on TV. I’m not very sporty, but I can definitely enjoy drinking wine and eating snacks with the best of them. And I usually just cheer for whoever has the largest city or country population because it’s going to make the most people happy – which really annoys Tom who’s a die hard sports fan with any favorite teams, haha. I think I’m a little too nice for competitive sports 😉 I used to spend most of my weekends working to catch up on emails and blogging, but I’ve been trying to find the right balance of enjoying my weekends and being productive too. It’s a fine balance, but I’ve been so much happier when I feel like I’ve actually been able to enjoy the weekend and spend times with friends/family. For any other full time day-job/part-time bloggers, any tips to balance it all? It’s no big deal in the winter when I want to stay inside, but it’s been a challenge to get things done this summer – especially when there’s so much happening in Chicago!
Okay, enough rambling from me – did you guys have a fun weekend? Any highlights? I’d love to live vicariously through you too! xx
