After years of wanting Stuart Weitzman boots, I finally took the plunge and bought my first pair! Today I’m sharing my tips for buying Stuart Weitzman boots if you’re looking to invest in your first pair (or third…) too! Happy Hump Day, friends! I’m officially into day 3 of my new job and I couldn’t be more excited to be back in the office again this morning (I definitely have the new job glow feeling, so I’m crossing my fingers that it lasts at least for a while!). I can’t even begin to explain how amazing it feels to be working back in the city and feeling like I truly live here again. Even though I’ve technically always lived in Chicago, when you work an hour and a half away and commute every day Chicago felt so far away. I’m excited that I’m going to be back in the city working and enjoying all that Summertime Chi has to offer in the coming months!
And speaking of Summertime Chi, the weather the past few days has been all over the freaking place. High of 75 and sunny, and then 3 days of thunderstorms?! I guess it’s officially springtime in the city….oy vey. But I’m not that mad about it (again, because I’m on that new job high!) but it still makes it a little difficult to dress for now that I’m commuting.+ walking to work every day. I’ve been wearing this Banana Republic Factory soft trench coat that’s the perfect light layer for warmer days, and Ive been pairing it with these J.Crew rain boots when the puddles are too much for my other shoes to handle.
But when it’s not raining and the weather’s cooperating, I’ve been wearing my new Stuart Weitzman boots I bought a few weeks back when they were having a major sale for spring! I’ve been wanting a pair for the last three years, and just couldn’t bring myself to drop the cash to buy a pair full price. Even though it seemed like everyone had their own magical pair, I held out until they were A) on super sale, or B) I could find a reason to justify buying them for a big occasion (i.e. my birthday present to myself, Christmas, etc.). Anyways, I waited a long long time, but I finally found a 50% off sale and made the splurge on a pair that I knew I would love.
Now that I finally own a pair, I wanted to share some tips in case you’re like me and have been dreaming of owning a pair for yourself too! Whether you’re holding out for another big sale, or are hoping to get a pair for a big celebration coming up, here are the tips for buying Stuart Weitzman boots I’ve learned to help you shop for your own!
Tips for Buying Stuart Weitzman Boots
The Fit:
When something like a $750 pair of boots go on super sale, you have to go for it right away! So while I had wanted a pair of Stuart Weitzman boots for a long time, I really hadn’t done the sizing research I probably needed to do first.
From my experience (and chatting with friends who have pairs too!), Start Weitzman boots are true to size, but if you’re leaning between a half size bigger or a half size smaller – I’d go with the slightly larger size. I’m a true 8, and the 8’s I ordered fit me perfectly!
For the width of your boot, Start Weitzman boots come in narrow, medium and wide, which applies to both the shoe width but also affects the shaft around the boot. Because I have really small calves, I opted for a narrow size – but be warned that narrow is truly very narrow. They’re definitely snug on me (which I don’t really mind), and I went for the narrow because typically boots slump after wearing them for more than 5 minutes. If you don’t usually have that issue – go for the medium, and if medium boots are usually too snug, try the wide for a little more room.
Quality:
I definitely was that person who bought 3 pairs of cheap versions of faux-Start Weitzman boots the years leading up to actually buying them, and they were usually not quite the dupes I was looking for. Sure they looked similar, but I couldn’t get the fit just right, and the quality was clearly not the same. I’ve been super impressed with my suede boots so far, and they really stay up all day without slumping down. The leather and suede is super supple and miraculously doesn’t scuff that easily. I was an idiot and wore my brand new suede boots to a backyard Ludacris concert at SXSW in Austin, and despite the shoulder to shoulder crowd and dirt backyard, they came out of the concert unscathed. Thank god….
Taking Care of Your New Boots:
Regardless of if you get a leather or suede pair of boots, make sure you don’t leave the house without praying stain repellant on them first. Suede or leather care repellant are going to be your new best friends – and make sure you give them at least a few coats (and give them enough time to dry!) before you wear them around town.
For leather booths, you’re able to easily wipe off anything with a clean, damp cloth – or you can apply neutral or colored polish or leather lotion if you want to make them look good as new. Suede (of course…) is a little tougher, but I’ve found success using a soft bristled brush to remove stains above or on the suede to remove anything that’s hardened/dried. And if worst comes to worst (or you don’t want to chance it!) take them to a professional cleaner or shoe repair to give your new boots the all-star treatment.
The Best Classic Pairs:
I can’t just share my tips for buying Stuart Weitzman boots without sharing a few of my favorite pairs, too! I usually wait until they go on sale at Nordstrom here (or sometime on Nordstrom Rack too!), but I also rounded up a few of my favorite classic pairs below! The Lowland Over the Knee booths are iconic (they’re the ones with the tie right below the back of the knee!), but I also love the 50/50 and AllServe (which is the kind of pair that I have).
Okay, that’s enough talking about boots for one day 😉 If you have any questions or needs some ips for buying Stuart Weitzman boots, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email or send me a direct message (@charminglystyled) on Instagram!
